Somewhere in the remote region, the war ends. Little streams of orphans merge into a river which rushes forward and submerges everything in its path. The children do not know any feeling; they know only the world of their enemies. They fight, steal, struggle for a mouthful of food, and violence is merely a means to get it. A gang led by Cahoun finds a refuge in an abandoned castle and encounters an old composer who has voluntarily retired into solitude from a world of hatred, treason, and crime. How can they find a common ground, how can they become mutual friends The castle becomes their hiding place but possibly it will also be their first home which they may organize and must defend. But even for this, the price will be very high. To this simple story, the journalist, writer, poet, scriptwriter, movie director, and film theoretician Béla Balázs applied many years of experience. He and the director Géza Radványi created a work which opened a new postwar chapter in Hungarian film. Surprisingly, this film has not lost any of its impact over the years, especially on a profound philosophical level. That is to say, it is not merely a movie about war; it is not important in what location and in what period of time it takes place. It is a story outside of time about the joyless fate of children who pay dearly for the cruel war games of adults. At the time it was premiered, the movie was enthusiastically received by the critics. The main roles were taken by streetwise boys of a children's group who created their roles improvisationally in close contact with a few professional actors, and in the children's acting their own fresh experience of war's turmoil appears to be reflected. At the same time, their performance fits admirably into the mosaic of a very complex movie language. Balázs's influence revealed itself, above all, in the introductory sequences an air raid on an amusement park, seen in a montage of dramatic situations evoking the last spasms of war, where, undoubtedly, we discern the influence of classical Soviet cinematography. Shooting, the boy's escape, the locomotive's wheels, the shadows of soldiers with submachine guns, the sound of a whistle—the images are linked together in abrupt sequences in which varying shots and expressive sharp sounds are emphasized. A perfectly planned screenplay avoided all elements of sentimentality, time-worn stereotypes of wronged children, romanticism and cheap simplification. The authors succeeded in bridging the perilous dramatic abyss of the metamorphosis of a children's community. Their telling of the story (the scene of pillaging, the assault on the castle, etc) independently introduced some neorealist elements which, at that time, were being propagated in Italy by De Sica, Rossellini, and other film artists. The rebukes of contemporary critics, who called attention to formalism for its own sake have been forgotten. The masterly art of cameraman Barnabás Hegyi gives vitality to the poetic images. His angle shots of the children, his composition of scenes in the castle interior, are a living document of the times, and underline the atmosphere and the characters of the protagonists. The success of the picture was also enhanced by the musical art of composer Dénes Buday who, in tense situations, inserted the theme of the Marseilaise into the movie's structure, as a motive of community unification, as an expression of friendship and the possibility of understanding. Valahol Europaban is the first significant postwar Hungarian film. It originated in a relaxed atmosphere, replete with joy and euphoria, and it includes these elements in order to demonstrate the strength of humanism, tolerance, and friendship. It represents a general condemnation of war anywhere in the world, in any form.

二十岁的年轻人Kamal结婚已经几个月了，但夫妻生活却一直没能达到完美和谐。Kamal在性方面有障碍，他的妻子结婚后依然还是处子之身。于是Kamal去看医生，可医生确诊Kamal生理上并没有任何问题。Kamal来到城里找其他女人，希望能占有她们的肉体，但即使城里面有无数的美女，Kamal却一次机会也没有碰上。直到他经历了在公交车上的一次奇遇……19岁的卡莫欧Kamal（凯思德·哥里伯克乌饰）走进医生的办公室，脱光了衣服，赤裸着躺下。卡莫欧与她的妻子已经结婚三个月了，他始终没有性能力，家庭生活也因此变得十分不和谐，他每次回家前都有很大压力，希望能发生什么改变，但是却一直都没有。卡莫欧又去城里看了医生，确定自己心理上没有任何问题，他怀疑自己和妻子是否不能来电。卡莫欧便一个人来到了大城市中，想在这里找到喜欢的女人，希望能与她们交媾。大城市果然与乡村不同，美女如云，可尽管如此，卡莫欧还是没能找到能与自己来电的女人。直到有一天，卡莫欧上了一辆公共汽车，偶然间见到了美丽的薇拉Vera（蒂娜拉·卓卡洛娃饰），卡莫欧呆住了，但这一切似乎都是巧合，因为自此后他们很久没有再见面。卡莫欧每天都在这座大城市那些高耸入云的大厦间穿梭奔走，站在后现代建筑中翘首张望，只希望能再见到在公共汽车上的那个可爱女孩，他希望这个女孩能改变他。终于在某一天，卡莫欧等到了这个美丽的天使薇拉，一个在工厂工作的年轻的俄罗斯姑娘，但他没有想到的是，薇拉早已嫁做人妻了。薇拉的丈夫（玛若夫·普罗当那饰）是印度暗杀集团的一个黑手党分子，他出狱后，看到与薇拉交往中的卡莫欧，便让卡莫欧穿上女人的红裙子，羞辱他，并让无辜的卡莫欧也卷入了盗窃、强奸和无尽的杀掳当中，他认为通过杀人就可以使卡莫欧变得强硬，成为一个真正的男人……
